1.2 or 1.3?

To hold a general contractor licence, a company must have qualified respondents in administration, construction site safety management, project and construction site management, and execution of work for the subclass applied for.

  • 1.2 Small Buildings: buildings covered by Part 9 of the National Building Code (generally no more than 3 storeys and no more than 600 m² of building area, depending on the occupancy). For new residential buildings in subclasses 1.1.1 and 1.1.2, subclass 1.2 only covers work subcontracted for the holder of a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 licence.
  • 1.3 Buildings of All Kinds: any building, including those in 1.2, certain inflatable structures and the work of subclasses 2.6, 3.1, 4.1, 5.1 and 6.1 for these buildings. For new residential buildings in subclass 1.1.1, only as a subcontractor for the holder of that licence.
