Who is this path for?
To obtain a specialty contractor licence, a business must have qualified respondents in administration, construction site safety management, and project and construction site management; one person may act as respondent in several areas. Subclasses listed in Schedule III do not require an assessment of competence in the execution of construction work:

  • 2.5 Excavation and earthwork
  • 2.7 Sitework
  • 3.2 Small concrete works
  • 4.2 Non-structural masonry, marble and ceramics
  • 5.2 Metal fabrication
  • 6.2 Wood and plastic work
  • 7 Insulation, waterproofing, roofing and siding
  • 8 Doors and windows
  • 9 Interior finishing
  • 11.2 Special equipment and products
  • 12 Manufactured cabinets and counter tops
  • 13.5 Prefabricated or special installations
  • 17.2 Intercommunications, telephone and surveillance

For subclasses listed in Schedule II (for example 13.2, 15.7, 15.8, 15.9 or 15.10), qualification in the execution of construction work is also required. Qualification is generally obtained through RBQ exams. An RBQ-recognized training program may qualify a person for an exam exemption; the RBQ may also accept other methods of competency assessment.

Aiming for a Schedule II subclass?
Add the course for your subclass, or choose a complete path that already includes these 3 courses: Heat Pump Installer (15.7 + 15.9), Refrigeration Contractor (15.10 + 15.8) or Fire Alarm Contractor (13.2).

Is this path enough for a Schedule III subclass?

All other RBQ licence requirements still apply.
